The Stud is situated at Otapawa Station, North Wairarapa, consisting of 600 Stud Ewes. The Perendale Stud was founded in 1951 with homebred Romney ewes and Cheviot rams. The property is 8900 acres of mainly medium to steep hill country. The soil type is mainly papa mudstone, it is a late area that suffers from strong North Westerly winds.
Objectives have always been to produce sound, solid framed sheep coupled with high fertility and good fleece weight in 32 to 36 micron range.
